ABOUT US

Suraksha Abhiyan was founded by Dr. Vilas Jairam Pawar in 2005. The main motive of this NGO is to spread awareness about Road Safety. Suraksha Abhiyan has been conducting several workshops that involve school students, teachers, and medical fraternity with the motive to educate people about road safety. A yearly conference involving government officials, RTO chiefs and other non-government bodies is conducted to discuss the grave issues of road accidents and how the after-effects can be controlled if not solved. Over the year Suraksha Abhiyan also does a lot of actives as part of their social service. Like conducting seminars at school where a proper syllabus is preapred that has A-Z topics on road safety wiz Rules and Regulations, Understanding the rules better, etc. This is not only for students but also for other teaching /non-teaching staff. Suraksha Abhiyan also organizes workshops for students to implant the road safety awareness at the tender age. The NGO has conducted several completion like slogan creation, elocution competition, poetry reciting and drawing competition that are related to Road Safety. Pictures speak a thousand words hence Suraksha Abhiyan also organizes picture education events where images are placed that describe the dire need of road safety. Every year Suraksha Abhiyan publishes an informative book that consists of fun facts and information which every citizen of India should know about. Besides this various programs are organized to spread awareness in the form of entertainment. Road Safety is not just a slogan but it should be a lifestyle

Dr. Vilas Jairam Pawar

Dr. Vilas Jairam Pawar (Founder- Trustee) is a journalist by profession and earned his Ph.D. from Mumbai University in Marathi Literature. Since the last 2 decades, he has been actively involved in government activities about road safety. He has been an active member of "Accident Prevention Body, Maharashtra" for 12 years and has advised over fixing the black spots and accident-prone areas. As a journalist, he writes about various topics, though his main focus is on writing about road safety. He has been the anchor for the national television show "Ghatnachakra" which aired on Sahyadri Vahini, with the help of his production house Om films he has directed several documentaries that display the importance of road safety. He has visited many prestigious institutes likes IIT Powai, Mumbai University, etc to talk about the role of media in Road Safety. Dr. Vilas Pawar has also been part of the Road Safety District Committee as a non-official member. The core reason behind the foundation of Suraksha Abhiyan is to spread awareness and create a more preventive atmosphere on the roads.

 

Mrs. Vishakha Vilas Pawar (Trustee)

Mrs. Vishakha Vilas Pawar has been actively taking part in civil defense and social services since her college days. Activities like first aid utilization, operating system, etc. Currently, she is the editor in chief of the Sakhi Savdhaadika, A women's special Magazine. She has organized various women meetups like Rangoli competition, etc for women to meet up and discuss the issues regarding their safety.

 

Shri Raghvendra Kulkarni (Trustee)

Shri Raghvendra Kulkarni retried as the secretary of the Irrigation Department of Maharashtra Government and Civil Structure. He has his expertise in Charted Engineer and along with Civil Engineering as an Arbitrator. The guidance and participation of Shri. Raghvendra Kulkarni has been priceless for the NGO

 

Dr. Ajit Burad

Dr. Ajit Burad has been very passionate about social services. Being from the Medical fraternity he has been organizing various health camps for pedestrian and drivers In addition to it he has been an active member of various debates and health-related pannels regarding road safety. He has been an integral part of our camps and lends his medical expertise to our cause.

 

Mrs. Manini Bajirao Gaikwad

Heads the Pune-Kolhapur sector of Suraksha Abhiyan and spreads awareness regarding road safety amongst the women and children of the respective cities. She has been continuously organizing workshops in Pune-Kolhapur areas. She actively conducts many meet-ups and fun events like haldi-kum kum for women and children.

 

Mrs. Sakshi Rajesh Patil

Heads the Navi Mumbai sector of Suraksha Abhiyan. She has been involved in social service with the help of Suraksha Abhiyan pertaining to women. She has also been active in organizing road safety awareness events for school kids.
